Events Management Third Edition Published

The third edition of Events Management has been published by Butterworth-Heinemann, written by Glenn A J Bowdin (UK Centre for Events Management, Leeds Metropolitan University), Johnny Allen (Australian Centre for Events Management, University of Technology in Sydney), William O'Toole (International Event Development Specialist, Sydney), Rob Harris (Australian Centre for Events Management at University of Technology in Sydney) and Ian McDonnell (University of Technology in Sydney).

Events Management has been revised, expanded and updated to reflect developments and changes in priorities in the Events Management industry. Changes include new chapters on sustainable development and events, perspectives on events, and expanded content on marketing, legal issues, risk and health and safety management. It is full of real-life case studies which illustrate key concepts and place theory in a practical context.

Global Events Congress a great success

More than one hundred and sixty people from twenty three countries attended the Global Events Congress IV, incorporating the 8th AEME Events Management Educators Forum, hosted by the UK Centre for Events Management (UKCEM) at Leeds Metropolitan University from 14-16 July 2010.
Glenn Bowdin, Head of the UKCEM and Chair of AEME noted, "Global Events Congress IV has showcased a wide range of events and festivals research and provided a forum for events educators and researchers to explore and advance theory, policy and practice, the theme of the event.  It has updated the academic community on the "state of the art" and provided the sharing on best practice, which has greatly assisted AEME in moving the agenda forward."
 
Professor Rhodri Thomas, Chair of the Scientific Committee, continued, "We have been impressed by the quality of the key note speakers and parallell sessions. Global Events Congress IV Programme announced

The programme for the Global Events Congress IV and AEME educators Forum has been published. It contains papers from more than eighty academics from twenty three countries.  The keynote speakers include leading academics from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, North America and the UK as well as high level practitioners such as the Head of Ceremonies for London 2012 and the Head of Tourism for OECD.  Further details are available on this web site.

 

Centre wins Engage Super League impact assessment

Professor Rhodri Thomas will lead a team undertaking an economic impact assessment of the Rugby Football League’s (RFL) Engage Super League Grand Final to be held at Old Trafford, Manchester in October.   They will also undertake a similar study of the Northern Rail Blackpool 9s tournament for the RFL and the North West Regional Development Agency.
