Richard Wright

Prior to joining the UK Centre for Events Management team at the start of September 2009, Richard spent five and a half years based within the Department of Tourism at the University of Otago, New Zealand.  In addition to completing a Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and PhD during this time, he was also involved in the development and delivery of a sport tourism course and two events management focused modules, including the distance learning course offered during the university’s summer school programme. 

His research interests focus on the relationship between sport, tourism and the events industry, especially in relation to local/regional planning, legacy development and the evaluation of socio-economic impacts.  Before moving to New Zealand, Richard was employed by Cambridge City Council as a Tourism Officer, working both inside the Information Centre and alongside those involved in the production/promotion of local, regional and international events.
