Dr Emma Wood, Reader in Festivals and Event Marketing, was recently invited to present a two day series of lectures and workshops to event professionals and government agencies in the Faroe Islands.
This remote but beautiful country is seeking to professionalize their event sector and engage with current research and thinking in the areas of event tourism, event marketing and sustainability. These seminars were aimed at stimulating debate on the benefits and drawbacks of events within local economic development strategies and to consider the usefulness of events as a catalyst for tourism development.
