Course Overview - PGCert/PGDip/MSc Events Management (Distance Learning)

The events industry is challenging, fast paced and innovative and there is a need for managers to manage every facet of the event in a proactive and skilful manner. This course develops a range of broad based business skills and will enable the student to function in larger, more complex environments. Well-qualified postgraduate students are seen as a significant and contributory factor in the future success of the industry.

Course Content

This distance learning course is for those wishing to develop and expand their knowledge and understanding to postgraduate level and pursue a career in the industry from a strategic perspective.

The course is studied via distance learning to enable students to complete the course whilst continuing to work and has been designed to enable you to develop the skills and confidence to plan and manage high-profile events. As well as event-specific issues, you will also study key aspects of events management such as the event planning process, health and safety issues, sponsorship and fundraising, crowd management, operations management, events promotion and strategic thinking. Through coursework and assignments, you will also have the opportunity to develop and refine core transferable skills such as creative thinking, problem solving, team working and time management.

Course Modules: Strategic Management; Creative Thinking for the Event Professional; Impacts and Risks in Event Management; 4 x Option Modules; Research Methods; Dissertation

Option Modules: Choose two from International Strategic HRM; International Marketing Strategy; Operations & Quality Management. Choose two from Business & Association Event Management; Innovative Communication Strategies for the Events industry; Financial Management; Volunteer Management.
