Leeds Metropolitan University has taken the decision to combine its its research efforts in the fields events, tourism and hospitality. This means that the although the UK Centre for Events Management will continue, its research will be located with the new International Centre for Research in Events, Tourism and Hospitality (ICRETH). The International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) and the Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change (CTCC) will cease to exist as centres of the university. Professor Rhodri Thomas has been appointed Head of ICRETH. Commenting on his appointment, he stated: 'This is a great opportunity for us to build on collective strengths. the critical mass within ICRETH will enable us to do much than we have been able to achieve individually'.
