Ruth Dowson is a Senior Lecturer in Events Management. Originally from a public sector background wiht the NHS, Ruth's research interests relate to open government on public sector engagement events and spirituality, religion and events. With over 25 years experience in strategic development, management and delivery of conferences, seminars and associated exhibitions, Ruth was formerly Head of Events, NHS Connecting for Health where she was responsible for strategic planning, content and events delivery, including process development, systems and training, managing procurement activity through the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) and Department of Health frameworks, and building strong working relationships across the NHS.  From 2002 to 2005 she was National Events Manager for NatPaCT (part of NHS Modernisation Agency), where she initiated the design and development of the NHS' first online events booking and management system.
