"The Future is You," a conference targeted at events students, took place at International Confex at Earls Court, London, this week.  The conference brought together students from across the UK and beyond to gain insights from a range of industry experts on the events industry and careers.  Organisers Tony Rogers and Mathilde Stein, have praised the professionalism of Leeds Met events management students who volunteered to support the event. International Confex is one of the largest event shows in the World and the final year undergraduate and postgraduate UK and international students seized the opportunity to take part.

Mathilde Stein of International Events Support commented 'the Leeds Met events management students did a fantastic  job:  they were proactive, approachable, dynamic, hands-on, and showed great team work - they were a credit to the University!"

Glenn Bowdin, Head of UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Metropolitan University, who participated in the panel discussion at the conference, commented, "It is clear from the conference that the links between the events industry and universities are strengthening, which is particularly important in these challenging economic times.  It is through these industry-education partnerships that universities are able to develop students and graduates who can work effectively in the events industry. The messages that I took away from the conference were that students are keen to seize opportunities to gain experience alongside their studies, and that graduates and education continue to make a positive contribution to the future of the events industry."
