Isla Brown, Events Assistant and Network Coordinator at the UK Centre for Events Management took a group of Yorkshire Festivals Network members to the UK Festival Conference & Awards at the British Music Experience at the 02 in London last week. The group, from a range music and arts festivals across Yorkshire, enjoyed stimulating panel discussions from industry experts presenting the latest thinking and business insight into the industry. The conference attracted senior representatives from Live Nation, SJM Concerts and Festival Republic alongside organisers of festivals from across the UK, industry media representatives and marketing companies, brands and suppliers working with festivals. The conference was followed by a networking event and awards show, giving Network members a chance to meet colleagues from across the industry.
Delegates were also presented with the results of the Festival Census, the most comprehensive survey of British festival- goers to date. Network members also received first copies of the UK Festival Report, detailing the most comprehensive and up- to- date analysis of the UK festival marketplace.
Andrew Wood, Organiser of Bingley Music Live Festival commented that 'the whole experience was extremely beneficial to me. I have brought back with me lots of ideas, hopefully some of which will be implemented into Bingley Music Live'.
A new website and programme of events for the Yorkshire Festivals Network will be launched in early 2011.
